Homeless Services & Solutions

Food and Supply Distribution

Homeless Services & Solutions provides direct resources, advocacy, organizing and policy efforts to bring critical resources to Oakland’s most vulnerable residents, our unhoused neighbors. Feed the Hood is a large scale quarterly volunteer program that provides community members with opportunities to meet immediate needs of unhoused populations across Oakland through the distribution of food and essential supplies. 

• Donate sanitation or hygiene supplies (requires drop off to EOC's office).
• Winter item distribution-- help us distribute essential supplies this winter season (December 2022 - February 2023)
• Purchase essential supplies for the unhoused from our Amazon wishlist - bit.ly/eocamazonlist
• Encampment Surveying - Data collection of unhoused residents and curbside community needs (requires having your own vehicle and training).
• Feed the Hood // Lead Volunteer-- positioned at assembly tables and take a running inventory of the supplies at their assigned station to keep it stocked. Training required. Email [email protected] for more info.
• Feed the Hood // Caravan Ambassador-- the lead drivers and facilitators of the food and supply distribution caravans. Each Caravan Ambassador holds the responsibility of safely leading fellow caravan drivers to every distribution point on the distribution routes. Food & Supply Distribution addresses the deepened disparities and widened food insecurity of East Oakland communities, a historic food desert. EOC distributes groceries, healthy + hot meals, hygiene and household supplies each week through our client choice market.
​

• Client Choice Market // a free market-style food and supply giveaway where community "shops" for food and supplies. Held Tuesdays and Thursdays, 11 AM - 2 PM.
• Donate non-perishable food (non- expired, unopened). Requires drop off to EOC's office. **Please send an email to [email protected] or contact us at 510-990-0775 ext. 705.
• Help secure bulk donations of food.

Economic Empowerment

Economic Empowerment works to increase Black resident knowledge and unity around collective and/or cooperative economic opportunities.
​

• Mobility 4 All -- know how to repair bikes or skateboards? We could use your expertise, support cycling events or come out for a ride in your town!
• Community Engagement-- from tabling to canvassing, help increase awareness in the community of existing resources, help collect surveys/signatures.
