Increasing opportunities for individual and collective wealth in Deep East Oakland.

Homeless Services & Solutions

 Addressing the immediate needs of unhoused populations across Oakland. Advocacy and organizing on behalf of and with unhoused brothers and sisters in Deep East Oakland.
Food and Supply Distribution
Addressing the deepened disparities and widened food insecurity of the Oakland community, especially for seniors, veterans and low income families. EOC distributes groceries, healthy + hot meals, hygiene and household supplies.
Wellness, Resource and Outreach
Working to improve the well-being of East Oakland's at-risk communities. This program aims to uplift and support those who are deprived of certain services and rights.

Homeless Services and Solutions
​

Food Justice // Advocacy, organizing and policy efforts to bring resources to Oakland’s most vulnerable residents. Alleviate food insecurity in marginalized communities through the distribution and redistribution of food (food rescue), essential supplies and resources. Expand the access to fresh and nutritious food options in East Oakland.

Housing Justice //  Advocacy, organizing and policy efforts to increase traditional and innovative housing options for no to low income residents of Oakland. Shift the paradigm on what housing is and means for vulnerable communities. Change the narrative on homelessness and hold the powers that be accountable for housing being a basic human right.

Food and Supply Distribution

  • Aging Well Solidarity Program -- providing resources to older adults aged 50 and up. Monthly coffee hour and workshops.
  • Grocery distribution every Tuesday and Thursday

Working to increase the representation of deep East Oakland residents in the local and regional political landscape by civic participation and building the power and capacity of East Oakland residents to engage in organizing.

Our efforts include:
  • Campaign for Age, Race and District Diversity on City of Oakland Boards and Commissions ​​

Bringing Our Voices: Deep East Oakland Listening Session


In 2016, The East Oakland Collective (EOC) was awarded grants from All In Alameda County and Akonadi Foundation to hold a listening session for residents of color in deep East Oakland. Community members came together for a great discussion on economic empowerment, housing and urban blight from where EOC formed our focus areas.
