Mobility 4 All offers free ride share and AC transit passes for no- to low-income, transportation insecure residents of East Oakland.

Masks must be worn at all times during ride.
Limited to one (1) ride share and/or transit pass request per month.
Ride share requests are limited to rides in Oakland, CA only.
Lyft riders must be 18 years or older or minors accompanied by an adult. An adult 18 years or older must request the ride.

About Lyft Up East Oakland: Mobility 4 All

Mobility 4 All is a partnership between East Oakland Collective and Lyft that provides community members with a free ride to destinations within Oakland each month. In an effort to reduce transportation barriers, Mobility 4 All offers one Lyft free ride share or AC transit day-pass for East Oakland Residents needing additional transportation support.

Lyft Up East Oakland. Lyft donated $700,000 toward a $1 million capacity-building grant to TransForm and their partner organizations, East Oakland Collective and Scraper Bikes, to support their work on three key initiatives that will address transportation inequities in Oakland:

Community-Driven Placemaking

TransForm will convene a network of East Oakland organizations to help guide a participatory design process for the creation of new parklets and future bike share stations in East Oakland. This innovative, community-driven process will focus on how bike share stations can improve placemaking, build community ownership, and support local businesses.

Mobility4All Partnership

Lyft and TransForm will fund the East Oakland Collective to pilot a free ride program for underserved populations. Qualifying residents will have access to subsidized AC Transit passes, free Lyft rides and Lyft’s $5/month Community Pass for bikes and scooters.

Bike Library at the Shed

Lyft and TransForm will work with Scraper Bikes to establish a free, community-run bike lending library at The Shed. A portion of the bikes will be made available for month-long lending — including bikes that serve the needs of families with young children.

FAQs

Who can apply for a free ride?
Oakland Residents are eligible to apply for this service. Lyft riders must be 18 years or older or minors accompanied by an adult. An adult 18 years or older must request the ride.

If my ride is granted what do I receive?
Recipients will receive 1 Lyft ride or AC Transit one-day pass. Requests are limited to 1 Lyft ride or 1 ride AC Transit one-day pass per month.

When should I apply?
For ride share requests, please submit your request at least 3 days in advance.

What is the request process? What information will I need to apply?
You will be asked to complete a form that includes your name and contact information, the type of ride you would like to apply for and either the departure and destination address (for Lyft rides) or the mailing address where you would like to receive the one-day pass (for AC Transit day pass).

How often can I apply?
Ride share requests are limited to one Lyft ride and/or AC Transit one-day pass per month.

Can I apply for both?
Yes.

Do I have to have a smartphone to apply for a ride?
No.

What happens if I miss my ride share?
We are unable to rebook rides. You can submit a request for a new ride on a later date.
