We've had two powerful events that bonded peopled from across Oakland and neighboring cities to discuss the state of violence and public safety in Black and Brown communities. We heard from dynamic speakers, community members and youth on solutions and on how we can empower each other to be advocates for our families and neighborhoods. Join us for the third installment of the Take Back Our Streets Summer Series that will focus on canvassing, outreach and conclude with a community celebration.
Bringing Our Voices: Deep East Oakland Listening Session
The East Oakland Collective was awarded grants from All In Alameda County and Akonadi Foundation to hold a listening session for residents of color in deep East Oakland. On December 5, 2016, community members came together for a great discussion on economic empowerment, housing and urban blight. Watch footage from the event to learn what is impacting deep East Oakland residents today.
